Location

Map sheet TF73SW
Civil Parish SNETTISHAM, WEST NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

1951. Northeast of Red Barn close to Roman pottery.
Neolithic 'A' pottery type rim. See drawings (S1).
Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1952.214).
This discovery was noted in (S2).
Information from (S3).
Identified by F. Healy as a Neolithic bowl sherd with slightly externally expanded rim. See description in (S4), which reproduces drawing (S5). This sherd is also amongst those noted in (S6).
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 20 February 2018.

KLM 6 inch Ordnance Survey map simply has 'Windmill Hill pot - Lewton-Braine' here, the same is marked at Red Barn Farm (site NHER 1688). The differences seem enough to prove this is a separate site and not a confusion, but bearing in mind the discrepancies of finder's markings of the same sites on NCM and KLM maps, some caution should be exercised.
E. Rose (NAU), 21 October 1981.
See drawing in file (S2).

Plotted on our map at above grid ref. (which agrees with OS TF 7194 3396) NOT TF 7192 3309 as on our card.
