Summary

A lime kiln of unknown date, still standing with its air inlet pipe to the rear. Nearby stands an underground chamber with an arched roof and a hole in the centre. Its purpose is unknown. There is some disagreement about the exact location of the kiln.

Lime kiln. Still extant, tuiliere in rear.
Nearby, a small underground chamber with arched roof and hole in centre, of unknown purpose.

However the kiln may in fact be further south, in the pit marked. J.Goldsmith (NCM) puts it on the other side of the road, to east. Needs checking.

Lime kiln is recorded here in Kelly's directory (S1) in 1875 and 1890. Marked as arable farmland on Tithe map 1840 (S2).
