Summary

A windmill was first recorded on the site in 1818 when it was working in conjunction with the nearby watermill (NHER 8884). It is shown on a photograph taken in about 1938 and was demolished around 1940. A low mound that contains brick walling could be the remains of it.

Map

October 1983.
Site of wind mill.
Shown on (S1) dating to about 1938, as a tall brick towermill with pointed cap but no sails.
Demolished around 1940.
Large mound now on site but this is said to be a buried pile of brick rubble rather than a true mill mound.
Presumably this mill replaced a post mill at NHER 15293 in 19th century.
E. Rose (NAU) 15 October 1980.

January 1982.
First recorded as working in conjunction with watermill in 1818.
Original cap blown off mill in 1881 putting it out of use. The mound of rubble in fact encases up to five courses still standing.
E. Rose (NAU) 29 January 1982.
