Summary

Drain construction work in 1963 uncovered patches of darker soil, as well as medieval pottery sherds, fragments of iron and bone, all of which were overlaid by a layer of silt.

29 November 1963. Found in laying drain at Belmont Road.
Medieval sherds.
Patches of dark soil.
Fragments of iron and bone.
The dark soil patches overlay the sherds, but were themselves overlain by 2ft 6in (76cm) of silt.
