Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting during the period 1980 to 1996 recovered a variety of objects. These included medieval lead-glazed earthenware, two Neolithic flint blades, medieval Flemish floor tiles and a Late Saxon strap end. This site is documented as the location of Thorpe Rectory which was ruined in 1614. Metal-detecting in 2010 recovered Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins, Middle-Late Bronze Age, medieval, medieval/post-medieval, post-medieval and undatable metal objects including a Middle-Late Bronze Age rapier and a lead alloy post-medieval whistle.
