1981. Metal detecting in field off Jew's Lane.
Found in field about 10cm (4 inches) deep. Previously ploughed, now overgrown.
Bronze circular seal matrix with central handle with trefoil loop.14th century.
Device; hare blowing a horn (?) riding on a bird, maybe a duck?
Legend SOHOV (a hunting cry) ROBCE. O?
Post-medieval bale seal.
Identified by S. Margeson (NCM) 1981.

The seal matrix is mentioned in (S1). The bale seal noted above is possibly a seal that was photographed by the NCM and subsequently identified by G. Egan (BM) - see polaroid. Unfortunately, although the finder of this object is noted on the polaroid, its provenance is not given.
