Summary

Metal detecting in this area during 1979-81 recovered a large number of Roman coins. These coins were minted from the time of Claudius I to the time of Arcadius. In addition, an Iron Age coin of Dubnovellaunus was also retrieved.

Winter 1979-80. In this approximate area.
Antoninianus, probably Carausius, AD 287-293. Reverse illegible.

June 1981. Freshly ploughed old pasture, on low sandhill.
Over one hundred and forty Roman coins, Claudius I to Arcadius.
Roman tile and brick.
Iron Age coin, copper, of Dubnovellaunus. Obverse: beaded heat L. Reverse: goat prancing.
