Full Description
1949-1965. Stray Find.
A range of finds were recovered by the late Frank Curtis in this field [1], which he designated F20. The information on these finds was collated by F. Healy (NAU) who examined Curtis' catalogue and part of his collection. The following worked flints are listed in (S1) and (S2):
1 Mesolithic 'microlith'.
1 Neolithic leaf arrowhead.
3 'harpoon barbs'. Presumed to be Neolithic transverse petit tranchet derivative arrowheads.
2 Neolithic triangular arrowheads.
1 Neolithic axehead.
1 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age plano-convex knife ('slug knife').
2 borers.
1 serrated implement ('saw').
5 other implements.
Previously recorded under NHER 5174, some of this finds also recorded in error under NHER 30029.

1964. Stray Find.
Found by [2] at TL 6909 8971 (Context 3):
1 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age barbed and tanged flint arrowhead with square barbs (Coll. No. 85). Previously recorded as NHER 5174.

1965. Stray Find.
Found by [1]:
1 Mesolithic tranchet axehead (Coll. No. 662/672). Identified by R. Jacobi and described in (SPreviously recorded under NHER 30029.
1 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age barbed and tanged arrowhead. Althoug the rid ref. given for this find appears to be incorrect (number transposed?) it is recorded as being from this field (F20). Information from (S2).

Found by [1] on surface of field 100 yards to south-west of Sternshouse Farm (TL 6952 9010).

Found by [3]:
1 flint ?borer. Long narrow pointed flake from side of ground flint axe, worn at tip. Information from (S4). Identified by F. Healy (NAU). Previously recorded under NHER 30029.

20 April 1981. Metal-detecting.
Found by [4] after field had been sub soiled (TL 6913 8977, Context 2):
1 Late Bronze Age socketed spearhead. Short, pegged, with leaf shaped bevelled blade. Of Ewart Park Phase like those in the Waterden Hoard and at Meldreth, Cambridgeshire.

7 March/25 April- 1988. Fenland Project fieldwalking.
Weathered soil but drilled, young cereal. Two sites identified:
Site FWL FM (General scatter; Context 1).
Odd flints scattered across in reasonable abundance. Small group at TL 6910 8974.
Site FWL 202 (TL 6915 8981; Context 4).
On flattish area of chalk with linear depression to north-west. Sparse to moderate concentration of 'pot boilers' and single worked flint. Max dimensions 36m NE-SW by 33m NW-SE.
Site FWL ??? (TL 6937 8991; Context 5).
Sparse to moderate concentration of pot boilers, including patches of pot boiler debris and ?ash. Just ploughed up. Max dimensions 21m east to west x 24m north to south. Previously recorded as NHER 22328.
