Full Description
1977. On ploughed surface.
Flanged copper alloy axe; 16.8cm long, 10cm wide at cutting edge. Facetted decoration on sides.
'Raindrops' on broad faces.
Originally recorded as from 7130 8820 (site 5316; TL 78 NW/73) due to finder's unfamiliarity with large scale maps.
The grid reference is based on the finder's 1:63,360 record map and is necessarily approximate.
It cannot be used to relate the axe to any of the second millennium BC occupation sites investigated in the same field.

S. Needham (BM) and A. Gregory (NAU).
F. Healy (NAU) 16 September 1981.
Described on (S2) by A. Gregory (NAU) as 'flat axe with slight hammered flanges'.
