Summary

Fieldwalking in this area during 1980 and metal-detecting in 2015 recovered prehistoric flint flakes; late prehistoric, medieval and post medieval pottery sherds; part of a medieval quern; medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a medieval buckle, a medieval/post-medieval lead weight and post-medieval lead weights, a book clasp, furniture escutcheon plate and buckle.

Full Description

July to September 1980. About 150 yards eastsoutheast of church. Fieldwalking.
Possible flint gritted sherd and two flint flakes.
Identified by A. Lawson (NAU).
Sherds from early medieval to late medieval/transitional including green glazed Grimston ware.
Lava quern fragment.
One pod, probably from post medieval pipkin.

October-November 2015. Metal-detecting. Site extended 26m to the south-east. [2].

Medieval/post-medieval lead weight.
1 post-medieval coin, 1 jetton, 1 pottery sherd, lead weights, a book clasp, furniture escutcheon plate and a buckle.
