Map

September 1966. Stray Find.
Roman pottery found at TL 7105 0621 (Context 5). Findspot marked on KLM 6" record map (S1).
E. Rose (NAU) 2 October 1981.

17 April 1984. Fieldwalking.
Systematic fieldwalking over whole field. Poorish conditions, freshly hoed growing beans.
BB195.
The small number of finds recovered including a Palaeolithic primary flake in deep brown flint (Context 4).
This site lies close to where a Palaeolithic handaxe had been found a number of years earlier (NHER 13553). As noted in (S2) the location of these finds in the valley, close to the stream, suggests that they derive from gravel deposits.

The other finds recovered were:
1 Neolithic axe, ground, polished, re-sharpened (Context 3).
1 probable Raeren stoneware with handle scar (Context 2).

Finder A. Rogerson (NAU). Flint identified by J. J. Wymer (NAU).
Finds now held by the Norwich Castle Museum.
See published report (S2) for further details. For locations see plot in file. The Palaeolithic flake is also briefly described and sketched on (S3).

E. Rose (NAU) 22 January 1985. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 24 November 2013.
