Summary

A flint hammerstone was found in Bircham at sometime during or before 1981. It was felt to be Neolithic or Bronze Age in date. The exact location and nature of its discovery are uncertain.

1981 or before. Surface find? Found in Bircham area on a neighbouring farm to Moor Farm. Exact location not recorded. Moor Farm house at 7690 3290.
Waisted hammer of grey flint. An ovoid pebble 7cm long encircled by a central groove. Working by flaking and subsequent polishing. Function uncertain. One end battered but may be due to a fossil intrusion.
Possibly later Neolithic or early Bronze Age.
Possible parallel in (S1).
