Summary

The possible site of a gun battery with four 18 pounder guns referred to in a 19th century account. This was part of a series of such batteries along the cliffs, see NHER 12396.

Semi circular battery with four 18 pounder guns noted in (S1).
According to M. Warren (Cromer Museum) there may have been more than one.
Building known as the Watch House stands on site.

(S2) states this was built in 1804.

(S3) suggests that the battery was on the other side of the Gangway on the site later occupied by The Crescent, as shown in a contemporary drawing of 1809 in Cromer Museum.
