Summary

Metal-detecting in 1981 recovered a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount. A systematic fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey undertaken in 2012 recovered Mesolithic/Early Neolithic, Neolithic, Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age and undatable prehistoric worked flints and two post-medieval pottery sherds.

Found by [1] at Context 1 [2]:
1 Late Saxon (11th century) copper alloy book-mount, with Ringerike-style decoration.
One of several Late Saxon mounts from Norfolk discussed in (S1).
Identified by S. Margeson (NCM) 1981.
Reidentified as a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount by D. Williams in 1997 (S2).
Purchased by Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1982.23).

Field survey of proposed development area (Field 1).
Finds recovered included:
1 Late Mesolithic/Early Neolithic flint blade core.
1 Mesolithic/Early Neolithic flint blade.
1 Neolithic flaked flint axehead.
1 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age flint end scraper.
10 prehistoric flint flakes.
2 post-medieval pottery sherds.
