Full Description
Site of rectory.
Grid reference provided by S. Margeson (NCM) from (S1).
Demolished 1933.
Photograph in church shows 'double' house (i.e. 2 gables each end). Flat facade of 7 bays, 2 storeys, with parapet.
Tudor-style straight headed windows. At one end a full-height brick section like a flat turret with central Gothic window.
Large brick angle-pilastered porch. Genuine early 16th century, or Gothick?
In all, probably latter, around 1820. Genuine origin cannot be ruled out.
E. Rose (NAU) 30 June 1982.
July 2023. Mapped extent amended.
Amended the mapped location from a point to a polygon based on rectified version of the First Edition 6-inch Ordnance Survey map (S1).
A new record (NHER 67247) has also been created for a walled garden and associated buildings located immediately northwest of the rectory. It is posible that the structures are outbuildings and all of these features are associated with the rectory. Further research is required to confirm this.
H. Hamilton (HES), 03 July 2023.
