Summary

Not to be confused with The Old Maltsters, NHER 41218, this timber-framed building has two storeys and a tall thatched roof. There is also a projecting chimneystack on the west gable wall in 17th century brickwork, and the whole building is likely to date to the 17th century or possibly earlier, though it certainly predates the surrounding buildings.

1982. Site visit.
Two storeys, tall thatched roof. Timber framed and rendered, very irregular. Two upper windows in north façade appear to occupy original spaces. Door and two modern windows on ground floor. Projecting chimneystack on west gable wall in 17th century brickwork. Pantiled projection at base. Oven? Or inglenook. House probably before the 17th century. Older than the rest of the row in which it is set (late 17th or 18th century timber framed on east 19th century houses to west). Apparently to be restored.
E. Rose (NAU), 29 September 1982.

Listed as 17th/18th century.
