Three earthwork banks are visible on NLA aerial photographs from 1974 (S1) and (S2) and 1991 (S3). Their date and origin is uncertain. They are located to the west of Warham Camp (NHER 1828) and to the north of another site (NHER 1845), centred on approximately TF9417 4104. All of the banks are aligned approximately east to west, as is the northern bank (possible causeway) of NHER 1845. They have similarities in appearance to this and it is possible that they are related to it in someway? One possibility might be further causeways (?), when the proximity of the site to the river Stiffkey is considered (present and former routes).
The first bank of this site is approximately 70m in length. It is located between TF9420 4109 and TF9427 4109. The second is about 65m in length, running from TF9419 4099 to TF9426 4099. The third bank is about 50m in length and runs from TF9406 4102 to TF9411 4102. It is possible that the third bank is a continuation of the second bank, as they appear to approximately align with each other (with just an 80m gap between the two in the field between which appears to be rather disturbed due to drainage). There also appears to be a very small break in the line of the second bank, possibly located at the point where the original route of the river Stiffkey might have passed through? However this is uncertain as the break could have been caused by more recent drainage, a lot of which can be seen in the surrounding area, particularly the adjacent field.
