NHER 38493 to the immediate south east contained a polygonal pillbox, which was originally situated on the post medieval sea bank (NHER 27805). It is possible that these two sites relate to the same structure, prior to the bank eroding away and the pillbox potentially shifting.
S. Massey (NMP), 9 March 2004.

April 2004.
Now washed out of pebble bank, freestanding on beach.
E. Rose (NLA), 13 April 2004.

February 2021.
Pillbox has partially collapsed in recent storms, breaking into several large sections.
See local press article (S3) for further details and photographs.
P. Watkins (HES), 19 February 2021.

March 2021. Field Observation.
Site visited by Rob Goodliffe (North Norfolk Council) due to local concerns about the unsafe nature of the pillbox remains.
Due to the potential for further collapse it is now proposed to fully demolish the pillbox.
See photographs (S4) and correspondence (S5) in file.
P. Watkins (HES), 5 March 2021.
