Summary

Pilgrim's Farm is a remarkable house of about 1600 with a screens passage and service doors, as well as an unusual extra kitchen bay with separate stack. The house has plaster decoration and a magnificent carved staircase with barrel rebus. To the east there are a long group of two 19th century timber-framed barns, which are under separate ownership.

Remarkable house of about 1600 with screens passage and service doors, unusually an extra kitchen bay with separate stack, plaster decoration, and magnificent carved staircase with barrel rebus.
Under restoration (1983).
To east a long group of two 19th century timber-framed barns under separate ownership.

January 1995. Listed Grade II.
Listing Description excerpt:
"House. Mid 16th century with 17th- and 19th-century alterations. Whitewashed and rendered timber-frames with black glazed pantile roof and ridge stack to centre right. Three-unit plan originally with through passage. Two storeys and attic…The rear has an outshut, a 17th-century stair turret and traces of mullioned windows.
INTERIOR. Arched fireplace in room to right. In centre room on north wall are two blocked doorways with flattened arched heads, indicative of the through-passage plan. Fine dog-leg staircase with acom finials and dido panelling. The timber-frame has jowled principJI posts and the roof has ties on arched braces and windbraces."
