Summary

Prehistoric flint implements and a fragment of Roman pottery were found when an area was stripped for a new access road in 1983.

Area stripped for access road and lavatories.
Chalk and breck sand/gravel natural below about 30cm topsoil. No features visible.
1 Roman greyware bodysherd probably late 1st century (identified by A. Gregory (NAU)).
Overall distribution of flint tools.
No evidence of Saxon material (see NHER 4987 for reported Saxon burial to north).
