Map

14 November 1983. Fenland fieldwalking. Unploughed field of regenerated crop, poor conditions.
Context 1: general scatter of medieval sherds, especially near west boundary which seems to be on line of medieval
droveway and near context 2. WPP AU (S1).
Context 2: at 5225 1307 concentration of medieval sherds (and some early post medieval?) adjacent to line of medieval drove. Sparse shell but not bone, only a small amount of baked/fired clay, plus a little modern brick. However, sparsity of material may be due to bad conditions. Sherds flattened into soil. Very approximate dimensions 25m north to south x 20m east to west at 7 feet (2.1m) OD. WPP 17 (S2).
For full details of wares, flint types etc see Fenland Folders (S3).
R. Silvester (NAU), 14 November 1983.

9 December 1983. Field revisited after ploughing.
A few medieval sherds but nothing else to add.
R. Silvester (NAU), 9 December 1983.
