Full Description
October 1983. Found while metal detecting on ploughed surface in wood.
Flint rubble.
Seventeen Roman sherds.
Ten medieval sherds including Grimston greenglazed..
Ten late medieval/transitional to post medieval.
One fragment lava quern.
Wood contains earthworks and remains of footings.
No metalwork found.
Pottery and quern.

Note wood not marked as such on unrevised 6in Ordnance Survey, simply as an enclosure.

The footings appear to be those of a barn marked on the first edition 6in Ordnance Survey, with yard on site to west.

Suggested as possible moated site. Maybe manorial.
