Map

1 December 1983. Fenland Fieldwalking.
Sparse concentration of Roman pottery over extensive area, just beyond Roman roddon with few sherds trickling up side. Samian sherd just beyond west end. Major problem is agricultural use of field which may have problems for recovery. Most of material from zone of rough ploughed but well weathered soil, whereas roddon has been drilled with winter wheat at two different times, the later sowing not providing a particularly good weathered soil. Extent is 140m east to west x 30-40 north to south very approximate. No bone noted, but very sparse amount post medieval sherds and fired clay. WPP 25 (S1).
For full details of wares, flint types etc see Fenland Folders (S2).
