NHER 19908 (Find Spot record) - Medieval object concentration, Roman and medieval pottery sherds

10 January 1984. Fenland fieldwalking, well weathered ploughsoil.
Context 1: general scatter particularly in northwest corner. Medieval sherds. Some of the material from Context 1 has been reidentified as Roman pottery. WPP CA (S1)
Context 2: at 4987 1656 scatter of medieval pot with little fired clay and one tooth. No obvious post medieval or modern material. 21m x 15m. WPP 38 (S2)
Context 3: at 4988 1648 alongside modern road probably on medieval drove course (as is context 2). Evidence of roddon under part of scatter. Noticeable that it is more substantial beyond site to east. Moderate scatter medieval pottery, small amount fired clay, odd fragments slag, no shell, animal bone, or post medieval material. 40m x 15m but could spread further east. Context 4: at 4993 1646 concentration medieval sherds, moderate density, moderate amount bone and fired clay. Surface finds on side and top of roddon, frost hampered recognition. 40m x 22m approx. Includes six Late Saxon sherds. WPP 40 (S4)
