Summary

Prehistoric flints including pot boilers, Neolithic flakes and a Neolithic leaf arrowhead, and a fragment of Beaker pottery were recovered during the Fenland fieldwalking survey. A Neolithic flint scraper and a Bronze Age socketed axehead have also been found at this site. Metal-detecting in 2018 recovered an Middle Bronze Age socketed axehead or unlooped chisel.

Leaf shaped arrowhead.

27 March 1984.
Odd flint flakes over field, Context 1. Mainly around 6906 8694 but also in southwest corner and elsewhere.
Context 3 at 6911 8699. Spread of sparse flints and few pot boilers, 1 sherd very friable. On south slopes of sand ridge (a little flint gravel). Not much spreads on to top of ridge. Does not extend to peat level. Rolled and planted, not weathered field.
Sherd probably rusty Beaker, F. Healy (NAU).

F. Healy (NAU) adds for this field, in Younge collection, flint scraper and a socketed copper alloy axe. It is possible the latter has been recorded elsewhere under another number though no similar find is marked in the immediate vicinity.
