Summary

This is the site of an Iron Age settlement, and Iron Age pottery has been found by fieldwalking. Fragments of pottery dating from the late prehistoric to the post medieval period, and medieval roof tiles have been found by fieldwalking.

11 October 1983. Second field east of Fieldbarn Road (site 96). Context 1, general scatter.
1 bodysherd flint gritted prehistoric.
6 unglazed, mostly medieval.
2 bodysherds, 1 damaged rim, ?Thetford type.
4 bodysherds glazed Grimston.
1 bodysherd glazed red earthenware.
1 damaged rim slip decorated pancheon.
1 fragment medieval peg roof tile with circular hole.
BB 97 Context 2 at 7248 0535.
Area about 30m diameter walked more intensively.
17 bodysherds Iron Age flint gritted and sandy, also 1 rim.
Identified A. Gregory (NAU).
10 bodysherds probably all medieval unglazed.
3 glazed Grimston plus one possible.
1 undated shelly sherd.
