Summary

Fieldwalking on this site in 1984 by the Fenland Survey recovered a small number of medieval pottery sherds from the whole field, as well as a concentration of late medieval pottery sherds. This concentration was situated adjacent to a medieval drove, and included bone and fragments. A small number of post medieval pottery sherds and building material were also recovered.

26 April 1984. Recently rolled spring barley; very large field.
Context 1 = few scraps only medieval pottery indicating very little medieval manuring.
Context 2 at 5728 1341. Spread late medieval sherds on rodhom adjacent to medieval drove. Pottery, bone moderate; shell abundant. Post medieval pot sparse, so building debris. Site probably quite prolific but recently rolled thus creating fresh surface. Medieval pot may be predominantly early post medieval. On top and east side roddon but does not run up as far as edge of drove. 50 x 50m.
