Full Description
19 March 1984. Well weathered plough soil.
Context 1: general scatter medieval sherds. WPP EG (S1).
Context 2: at 5098 1620. Concentration of moderate medieval sherds. post medieval sherds sparse to moderate; bone and shell moderate. Fired clay fragments and other building material abundant. On edge of drove edged by the Shire Drain - site is separated by grass track about 10m wide from drain so it is possible spread extended further west. 56 x 25m. WPP 75 (S2).

Context 3: at 5097 1614. Concentration medieval pottery 29 x 25m minimum. medieval pot sparse; post medieval pot moderate to abundant, shell sparse to moderate. Bone moderate, fired clay and other building material fragments abundant. Slag and some glass fragments present indicating post medieval activity. Sits slightly back from edge of drove but new barn may hide west edge. Possibility of roddon through here parallel to Shire Drain, but not proven. One sherd from Context 3 is Late Saxon (archive). WPP 76 (S3).
