Location

Civil Parish HARLING, BRECKLAND, NORFOLK

Map

11 April 1984. Visible in either side of newly dredged east to west dyke, on east slope of sand and gravel hillock (mainly sand) cut by dyke.
Dense, small fragments of burnt but (unlike the 'pot boilers' of site NHER 19698 approximately 150m away) not crazed flint. Layer up to 25m thick, and 7.30m east to west by a minimum of 3m north to south; lying directly on sand of hillock and under peat. Two flint cores collected from upcast from dyke dredging at east end of layer are fresh and unburnt and may not be associated with the burnt flint.
F. Healy (NAU) 11 April 1984.
