Summary

This cottage was said once to have been a single room with an inglenook fireplace. The walls were rubble but were heightened with brick in the 19th century. Beneath the house several pieces of post medieval pottery were found including Dutch pottery types and a complete 18th century clay pipe.

Early 1984. Cottage and garden in Hubbards Drove.
Cottage said once to have been single room with inglenook fireplace; walls pebble dashed but known to be rubble, heightened in 19th century brickwork.

90cm (3 feet) under floor:
Several sherds 17th to 18th century local wares.
Mid 17th century Dutch trailed slipware (dark on light with splashes of copper).
Few sherds tin glazed Delft type ware, plain white.
Two sherds Bellarmine fabric.
Two sherds black ?iron glazed redware.
Complete early 18th century style pipe.
Site visited and objects identified by E.M. James (KLM), 1 August 1984.
