Full Description
19 June 1973. Spong Hill, east of excavated site.
Cropmarks of linear features and a possible ring ditch are visible in aerial photographs.

The possible ring ditch is located at 9843 1981.

Cropmarks of a ring ditch of probable Bronze Age date are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S8). Linear cropmarks previously recorded as part of this site are now recorded as NHER 2920. The ring ditch is sub-circular in plan with a narrow ditch and an external diameter of 22m. It is likely that this ring ditch is of Bronze Age date and that it relates to a round barrow. The ring ditch is crossed by a later field boundary ditch cropmark (NHER 2920). Other ring ditch cropmarks are present in the vicinity and together they form a dispersed barrow cemetery (NHER 50705).
