Summary

Fieldwalking in 1984 by the Fenland Survey recovered a number of Roman and medieval pottery sherds, as well as some fragments of undated animal bone.

29 October 1984. Fieldwalking in good conditions, weathered soil, young cereal.
Context 2 at grid reference: sparse scatter Roman pottery adjacent to dyke and at base of small roddon. Odd fragments of bone 34m north to south x 13m east to west.
Finds in NCM.
Identified and compiled by R. J. Silvester (NAU).

31 October 1984. Remainder of field walked (TSJ B1) in good conditions.
Context 1: general scatter pottery mainly Roman at least one medieval, small group Roman in southeast corner.
Context 3: at 5269 1553. Extension of site NHER 20278/ context 4 across dyke. Sparse spread Roman sherds, odd fragment bone; 47m north to south by 15m east to west on top roddon. No obvious features in dyke side. (TSJ 19).
