A. Rogerson (NLA) 3 November 1992.
A wooden telegraph pole appears to have been erected recently, causing minimal disturbance. No artefacts in soil. Ponds wet.
Grazed by sheep.
H. Paterson (A&E) 24 April 1998.
September 1998.
Southernmost pond is probably common edge ditch with a link to southwest, truncated by roadside hedge. The link is 8m wide and 0.7m deep. Southernmost of two flint masonry fragments shown on county series map is still seen, is this a remnant of a bridge? Area to north is undulating, but no convincing detail as suspected levelling, although a raised area is obvious in centre of field. Pond to northwest is about 35m x 12m and could well have been a western moat arm, with link to north, joining modern ditch.
1 sherd medieval unglazed pottery in extreme northeast of site.
B. Cushion (NLA) 8 September 1998.
