Summary

A late medieval timber framed hall house probably dating from the 15th century, with later alterations including the insertion of upper floors. The building retains many of its original timbers, including a pair of arched doorways leading from the hall to the service areas.

March 1983. Listed, Grade II.
Brick plinth, timber framed with roughcast clay lump infill. Thatched roof. 2 storeys. Door left of centre in timber case. 3 sashes to each floor with glazing bars. Cabled roof with axial stack right of centre and second external stack at west gable, which is weatherboarded. Single storey utility bay to west not included. Numerous C18 casements to rear. First floor of east end is brick. Interior timber framing simple. Vice by stack, both fireplaces blocked.

Hall house of 15th century date or earlier, with unusual stack position. E bay added or rebuilt, stack and upper floor inserted about 1700; façade of about 1800, roof replaced. May have originally been crownpost.
