Summary

A 19th century tufa seal handle in the shape of the lower arm and hand of a figurine was found in a garden. This may have been made from an older object for an antiquarian.

Lower arm and hand of a figurine of calcareous tufa (identified by the British Museum Natural History Department) (material found in Dorset as well as many other places including Italy). Ornament like late 12th century (as on Stanton Fitzwarren and Southrop fonts) but perhaps a 19th century handle of a desk seal, made for an antiquary.
