Full Description
NAU aerial photographs 28 July 1977. Cropmarks.
Alignments of pit like features in 'bands' across field. Possible salterns?

26 February 1985. Visited by D.A. Gurney (NAU).
Field under crop and poor conditions for fieldwalking. Inspection of cropmark area produced Samian sherd (context 2, 5448 9983) form 37 rim, Central Gaulish. No obvious explanation of cropmarks, no other finds or visible briquetage to suggest salt production.

Research since 1985 has shown that these are Roman turbaries.
