Summary

Fenland fieldwalking here in 1985 recovered medieval pottery sherds, animal bones and shell fragments. It is possible that this site was located at the edge of the medieval green.

12 April 1985. Fieldwalking on deep ploughed and reasonably well weathered soil.
Context 1: general scatter medieval sherds. Site TYS AH.
Context 2: at [1]. Small concentration medieval sherds separate from Context 3. Site TYS AG.
Context 3: at [2]. Concentration sparse pottery, locally abundant shells, sparse bone. Some post medieval contamination. On slope of scarp which could be edge of medieval green. Infilled dykes confuse picture. 40m east-west x 25m north-south at 2.7m OD. Site TYS 6.
