Summary

Fieldwalking in 1985 recovered a general scatter of medieval pottery sherds from this field. A concentration of sparse medieval pottery, shell and bone fragments were also noted, along with abundant post medieval rubbish.

2 April 1985. Fieldwalking on well weathered ploughsoil.
Context 1: general scatter medieval sherds. WPP FQ (S1).
Context 2: at 5147 1409. Concentration sparse medieval pottery, moderate shell, sparse to moderate bone with abundant post medieval rubbish. In matrix of grey soil on slight rise. No obvious roddon here. Small area 24m north to south x 15m east to west but note that gardens may extend across part of concentration 2.0m OD. WPP 100 (S2).
