Summary

Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered prehistoric worked and burnt flint and fragments of prehistoric pottery. One concentration of prehistoric flint was identified as a prehistoric burnt mound. Later fieldwalking recovered an Early Neolithic flint leaf arrowhead, Early Neolithic scraper and Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age plano convex knife were found.

10 April 1985. Fenland fieldwalking.
Well weathered soil, widely spaced cereal crop.

Context 1:.
General scatter odd flints on ridges in field, especially at grid reference. FWL DO.

Context 2 at 6907 9172.
Pot boiler mound with abundant fragments, on top of loam ridge but higher than extension to north. Only a few flints which may not be associated. 34m east to west x 29m north to south at 1.2m max OD. FWL 139.
