Summary

A Roman metal working site was excavated in 1984, revealing the foundations of a building, a timber lined well, and a hearth, as well as Roman coins, pottery and evidence of metal working. The site was dated to the 3rd century, and suggests that the intensive occupation of the nearby Roman town, see NHER 1124, extended onto the far side of the river.
