Full Description
According to information supplied by [1] the Passmore Edwards Museums held an unregistered prehistoric flint or stone object marked "Beeston Lw, Param in Chalk Box Xc". This note suggests a possible 19th-century found in what was then the parish of Beeston St Lawrence (now part of Ashmanhaugh parish). The chalk reference may suggest that this object was Palaeolithic.
Compiled by E. Rose (NAU) 23 August 1985. Information from (S1).
The Passmore Edwards Museum was in Stratford and held the extensive collections of the Essex Field Club. It closed in 1994 and its collections were put into storage by Essex County Council.
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 4 June 2014.
