Summary

In 1985 a carved stone face was recovered from the back garden of a house in this area. The head was carved from limestone, and was thought to be of 18th century date.

Full Description

September 1985: in garden behind 83 London Road, Swaffham. Found in compost heap while looking for cat. Architectural plaque of oolitic limestone, depicting bearded male head in Graeco-Roman style. Early to mid 18th century?
