P. Wade-Martins (NAU) reports that he found one Ipswich ware sherd here but lost it. A. Rogerson (NLA) states that given the advances in dating pottery since that time, and also that this would be the only Middle Saxon find from Dereham town area, it may be best to treat this with great caution.
