Summary

This post medieval timber framed house is constructed from clay lunp with an infill of wattle and daub. It was built in the early 17th century, but during the 1920s a yellow brick façade was added. Inside, there are reused beams and timbers, possibly of 16th century date.

The Street.
Early 17th century. Timber framed, wattle and daub and clay lump. Pantiled roof. Yellow brick façade of 1920s. Two storeys. Porch and all main windows 20th century. Rear elevation one storey with two two storeyed crosswings, central one originally privy tower. Gaps between wings filled with 18th century catslides. One four light diamond mullioned window survives on first floor. Interior has tongue-stopped bridging beams. Roll moulded reused joists in lounge; five roll reused bridging beam in study. Roof tiebeams relocated. Staggered butt purlins but north wing butt purlins including reused moulded purlin.
