Summary

Fieldwalking in 1985 by the Fenland Survey recovered a general scatter of medieval pottery sherds from this field, particularly in the area behind the Sea Bank. A small scatter of Middle Saxon pottery sherds were also noted, as well as one Late Saxon pottery sherd and a medieval roofing tile.

13 November 1985. Fieldwalking in young winter cereal recently rolled.
Context 1: general scatter medieval sherds in area behind Sea Bank. WMV BC (S1).
Context 2 at 5892 1562: small scatter Middle Saxon Ipswich ware. Not completed but left to A. Rogerson to do. He identified one Late Saxon sherd also. And a medieval roofing tile. WMV BD (S2).
