Summary

A circular earthen mound with a ditch has been noted at this location. The purpose of this mound is not clear, but it has been suggested that it might be a moot hill or a possible shipping navigation mark. No associated finds have been recovered and this makes it difficult to assign a date to this feature.

Map

Mound 183m (200yds) south of Grange Farm.
Circular with slight ditch. No berm. 27m (90ft) diameter. Cutting in northwest section shows made of local clayey soil. No stone or masonry. Trees fringe the sides. General condition good. Slight rabbit burrowing. Dyke adjoins mound on east side.

(S1) calls a pronounced moot hill (puts under Walpole St Peter). No sign in field of cereal.

25 February 1983. Shows as a slight swelling less than about 3m high but not now round in shape.
A certain amount of modern rubbish in this locality. A roddon heads towards it but appears to fade before reaching it.
