Full Description
December 1985. Surface find.
Mica schist hone.
Narrow 'handle' and widening to bulbous working end which has flattened tip. Also a shallow groove longitudinally along
side at this end. Large flake missing off side. Overall length 13.3cm. Undatable except 'Late Saxon or Later'.

Copper alloy strap or belt fitting (2 spikes on reverse for attachment) in form of bird with outspread wings (head missing). Finely incised with lines indicating feathers and cross hatching on body.
