Summary

In 1964 a scatter of medieval pottery sherds were noted in this area. Fieldwalking in 1986 by the Fenland Survey also recorded this scatter, as well as a concentration of medieval pottery, bone and shell, as well as abundant post medieval material. This was recovered near to a possible medieval droveway.

Context 1 - general scatter - medieval sherds. TSC DK.
Context 3. at 5393 1934. Well weathered ploughsoil. Concentration sparse medieval pottery, ditto bone and abundant shell. Post medieval material also abundant.
Whole is set on low mound up to 0.8m high which is partly a roddon (Fenland term for extinct watercourse), with area of around 46m north to south x 36m east to west, with more shell and a little pottery spreading on to the flat ground to north and east. Adjacent to medieval drove. TSC 40. 2.4m OD.
