Summary

Fieldwalking in 1986 recovered a small number of medieval pottery sherds, largely from the eastern side of this field. A concentration of Middle Saxon and medieval pottery was also noted, in combination with bone and shell and some post medieval material, as well as the presence of an almost invisible extinct watercourse.

25 February 1986. Fieldwalking in young winter cereal, young maidens (strawberries) and ridged soil (S1).
Context 1 = odd medieval sherds mainly at east end field. TSC CT.
Context 2 at 5377 1790. Concentration of medieval pottery, sparse to moderate in places, bone (medium to abundant but may be due to Middle Saxon presence) and shell (very sparse), post medieval material sparse. On east side
virtually invisible roddon, weathered. TSC 31.
