Summary

Fieldwalking in 1986 by the Fenland Survey recovered a number of post medieval pottery sherds from this field, as well as noting a concentration of medieval pottery sherds, sparse bone, shell and post medieval debris. A possible roddon was also noted on this site.

11 March 1986. Fieldwalking weathered ploughsoil.
Context 1: general scatter post medieval sherds. TYL DJ (S1).
Context 2 at 5740 1455: concentration medieval pottery sparse to moderate, very sparse bone, shell moderate. post medieval debris moderate and locally abundant and set in matrix of black soil which shows clearly. Medieval site is in part set on side and top of large roddon 64m north to south x 48m east to west at 2.2m OD. TYL 21 (S2).
